 Satellite phones are available to hire or buy, whichever suits your purpose.
For regular travellers, or people travelling for periods of more than 3 or 4 months, purchasing a satellite phone may be the better option. However, for irregular travellers or for that one-off outback adventure hiring a satellite phone would be a better option.
We supply the Motorola 9555 satellite phone handset ("satphone") which is used on the Iridium network. The 9555 is a compact hand-held satellite phone with great battery life. This satellite phone has the capability of sending and receiving text messages. Also, incoming calls are charged to the caller at just standard mobile call rates.
